MADISON, FL – North Florida Community College and the NFCC District Board of Trustees formally recognized CareerSource North Florida and Executive Director Diane Head for “an outstanding business partnership with NFCC” and “dedication to our community” during the Board’s June meeting. According to David Dunkle, NFCC Associate Dean of Economic Development and Technical Programs, the College’s new CDL-Class A training program is a prime example of this partnership and dedication in action.

“Diane has the needs of this region at the forefront of her mind,” said Dunkle. “She is dedicated to workforce development and building up our community. She was instrumental, along with CareerSource North Florida, in helping the College secure funding for the new CDL program.”

Head was presented with a Resolution signed by NFCC President John Grosskopf and NFCC District Board of Trustees Chair Mike Williams in “recognition and profound appreciation” for her work, dedication and the strong partnership between the College and CareerSource North Florida. The resolution applauds the “outstanding leadership and collaboration on career and workforce training that helps meet the needs of NFCC students and regional employers;” the “guidance and partnerships that help bring relevant training programs and workforce opportunities to the NFCC district;” and Diane Head and CareerSource North Florida’s “instrumental part in developing NFCC’s Commercial Driver License-Class A training program.”

“This project came directly from industry,” said Head of the new commercial driving program at NFCC. “It represents a demand-driven system which responds quickly to the needs of industry.”

Industry partners Gray Logging, Genesis Timber, M.A. Rigoni, Suwannee Timber Management, Gilman Building Products, and Johnson & Johnson also worked with NFCC and CareerSource North Florida to help shape the new program to best meet local and regional workforce demands. Set to begin in September, the program offers valuable CDL training and exposure and skills related to the region’s trucking and truck logging industries.

“Our training partners play a vital role in building a talent pipeline for the employers in our area,” said Head. “The CDL program is representative of how we work with our partners and do what is in their best interests.”

Accepting the Resolution on behalf of CareerSource North Florida, Head thanked the NFCC District Board of Trustees for the recognition and the continued partnership. “This is just the start of what’s to come,” said Head.
