C.O. Ian Gretka Arrested in Ongoing OIG Investigation into Lake CI Video

Investigation continues into officer misconduct

CLERMONT, Fla. — In conjunction with the ongoing criminal investigation into an incident which occurred on July 8, 2019 at Lake Correctional Institution, the Florida Department of Corrections’ (FDC) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) announced the arrest of Correctional Officer Ian Gretka. Gretka is charged with Principal to Malicious Battery (third degree felony).

Following the arrest, Gretka was transported to the Lake County Jail. The Department is immediately terminating Gretka, who was hired in August 2016.

Secretary Mark Inch said, “The FDC Office of Inspector General continues to investigate this incident, and we will ensure that anyone found to have acted outside their authorities or the standards of our Department will be held accountable. As I have stated before, the Florida Department of Corrections will not tolerate inmate abuse at any level.”

The investigation by the FDC OIG is ongoing and more arrests or administrative sanctions may be forthcoming.
