Visitor Contraband Interdiction | October 22 – October 28, 2019

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has zero tolerance for contraband of any kind, and visitors attempting to introduce contraband are subject to suspension or termination of their visitation privileges and arrest.

Cross City East Unit: On October 27, staff discovered an inmate departing the visitation area to be in possession of marijuana. Upon further investigation, it was determined to have been provided to the inmate by their visitor prior to departing the area. The visitor’s visitation privileges were revoked.

Martin Correctional Institution: On October 26, staff discovered a visitor to be in possession of two bundles of contraband tobacco inside the institution. Their visitation was terminated.

Walton Correctional Institution: On October 20, staff observed a visitor passing an object to an inmate, which he attempted to conceal. The package was recovered from the inmate, which included synthetic marijuana and tobacco. The visitor was found to be in possession of an additional concealed package which contained multiple cell phones and a white powder substance. The visitation was terminated and the visitor was arrested for introduction of contraband and possession.
