BARTOW, FL – Before 2,063 supporters flooding the closed streets of downtown Bartow, Adam Putnam shared his conservative vision for Florida’s future today and announced his candidacy for Governor of Florida.

“Florida can be the launch pad for the American Dream,” said Putnam. “The state that is the fishing capital of the world can also be the state that builds the boats and trains the craftsmen. The state that trained millions of soldiers and sailors and airmen can retrain our citizens with the skills that allow them to compete in a rapidly changing world – and win. The state that put a man on the moon can build the tools for the next giant leap for mankind.

“Hard-working folks … have been able to achieve their American Dream right here in Florida. I want every single Floridian to be able to tell a similar story. I want people around the country to know this is where it happens. It’s why we have more work to do. It’s why we’ve got to keep fighting to put Florida first and make our state the launch pad for the American Dream. And it’s why I am running for Governor of the great state of Florida.”

Putnam was also joined on stage by his wife, Melissa, and their four children: Abbie, Libby, Emma, and Hughes.

“No one works harder for Florida than Adam Putnam. He stands up for us, and we love him for it. There’s really a movement behind him. Just look at how many people are here! I can’t wait until he is our next Governor,” said Andrea McClellan, a volunteer who traveled 30 miles from Temple Terrace to serve hot dogs and hear Putnam’s announcement.

“I’m a farmer and a rancher, and he’s really inspired me,” said Joseph Garcia, a 17-year-old student from Bartow High School who is also a member of the FFA. “Adam Putnam will be a great Governor.”

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd introduced Putnam, saying: “This man has made it a priority to make our state better than the one we already know and love. And he’s got a vision for our future. He knows we have to empower our citizens, protect our freedoms, educate our kids, and keep our neighborhoods safe and borders secure.”

Supporters joined Putnam and his family for a lunch of locally smoked BBQ after his announcement at the Florida Grown Hometown BBQ hosted by the Florida Grown Political Committee.

On Thursday, May 11, Putnam continues his 10-day, statewide bus tour. He will visit local residents, grassroots supporters, small businesses, veterans, and first responders throughout the state to learn about the opportunities and challenges that face everyday Floridians.
