Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 8:04 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Georgetown Road in reference to gunshots being fired.

The anonymous complainant reported that a gray Chevy Impala was involved but had left the area. Officers with the Madison Police Department spotted a vehicle that matched the provided description and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sumatra and Safari Avenue.

The vehicle was occupied by two adult males who were identified as father and son. Both subjects reported that they had just left a residence on Georgetown Road. The subjects reported that while at the residence Marcus Arnold and Jesse Jackson approached them and wanted to fight.

One of the victims was struck in the shoulder with an object picked up from the ground by Jackson. The second victim was struck in the face with a closed fist by Arnold as he attempted to enter the car to leave. Both victims reported that as they were driving away, Jesse Jackson stepped out into the roadway and fired multiple shots at their vehicle from a handgun.

Several witnesses provided sworn statement confirming the events. Deputies quickly located Jackson at a residence on Brookwood Avenue and arrested him without incident. A short time later deputies located Arnold at a residence on Merchant Street where he was also arrested without incident. The only injury reported was by the victim who was struck in the face and suffered a small laceration on the inside of his lip. The handgun was not recovered.
