Two Inmates (Octavio Roca & Sergio Corona ) Arrested Following Assaults on Correctional Officer

FDC’s Office of Inspector General investigates, arrests both inmates for attack

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) Correctional Officer was physically attacked while on duty. The incident resulted in a swift arrest of the attackers by the FDC Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

On May 4, at Cross City Correctional Institution in Dixie, Inmate Octavio Roca (DC# Y57082) and Inmate Sergio Corona (DC#M62235) attacked a correctional officer who sustained injuries as a result. The incident was brought under control by additional officers who responded to assist.

“Every day correctional officers go willingly into harm’s way in service to our state. I commend the courage and strength displayed by our officer during and after this dangerous attack.” Secretary Mark Inch said, “I appreciate the swift action taken by the Inspector General which led to these arrests.”

The FDC Office of Inspector General conducted a criminal investigation into the incident. Inmate Roca was arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery. Inmate Corona was arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery and Possession of a Weapon

Both inmates were transferred to Dixie County Jail for booking.
