Yesterday a Grand Jury was convened in Taylor County to hear evidence developed in the investigation into the death of Kashawn Davis a Perry resident. Officers and Detectives of the Police Department testified at the request of the State Attorney’s Office outlining the facts they discovered during the investigation. The Grand jury indicted three people for Murder in the 1st Degree while Armed. The indictments were handed down to Henry Bolden Jr, Jarnell Lavaris Coverson, and Marcques Kareem Mcgee. All three have been served arrest warrants charging them with murder.

The Detectives and Officers of the Perry Police Department did an outstanding job of piecing together the puzzle that resulted in the indictments. They did a great job putting together this case. Their experience and training were used to build this prosecutable case. Good Job to Lieutenant Lin Gray, Detective Sergeant Bill Murray, Detective Dwight Norris and Detective Ray Kellerman. I have not forgotten the many patrol officers that contributed, but there are too many to list. All of the Officers have done an outstanding job in this horrible and senseless crime.

Also, the citizens that provided information helped tremendously, without our citizen partners it is difficult to effectively serve the Perry/Taylor County Community.
The Perry Police Department’s Mission was definitely followed in this investigation.

The Mission of the Perry Police Department is to Protect Life, Individual Rights and Property of all Members and Visitors to our Community.
