Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Commissioner Nikki Fried released the following statement on the news that Florida is the only state that will not order COVID-19 vaccines for children from the federal government because the state Department of Health does not recommend children get the COVID vaccine.
“Once again, Governor DeSantis and Dr. Ladapo are setting public health policies based on anti-science COVID misinformation that goes against all mainstream medical guidance – this time at the expense of children in Florida. Their bizarre, politically-motivated COVID denialism has now taken away parents’ rights to choose this option to keep their kids safe, and minority communities will be impacted the most. This is exactly what happens when you have a bunch of extremists and conspiracy theorists running our state government.”
