Missing Endangered Person Rescued in Taylor County; Ex-Boyfriend Dies During Rescue

Missing Endangered Person Rescued in Taylor County.

Following several days of searching for Mellisa Infinger, missing from Bradford County, Taylor County deputies located and rescued her from a Steinhatchee motel this morning. Sheriff Padgett himself is credited with pulling Infinger to safety.

Her ex boyfriend, James Busbee, died as the result of a self inflected gunshot wound during the rescue. It is believed Busbee was holding Infinger against her will.

FDLE, Taylor and Bradford County deputies are continuing to investigate the scene.

Sheriffs Wayne Padgett and Gordan Smith, of Bradford County, worked together all day today following the rescue of an endangered Bradford County resident in Steinhatchee.

James Busbee was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at Shands in Gainesville. TSCO, and BCSO detectives are working with FDLE’s crime scene tech’s to process the hotel room where the ordeal ended.
