Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:12 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Old County Camp Road in reference to a verbal altercation.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who reported that Tedrick Sanders was present earlier and was trying to start a fight. The complainant informed the deputies that Sanders left the area just moments before they arrived. Sanders was described as a black male wearing dark colored clothing while pushing a bike.

The deputies searched the area and located Sanders a short distance away. Deputies immediately observed signs of intoxication and asked him if he had anything illegal on his person. Sanders answered “yes” and told the deputies he had a gun.

The deputies took control of Sanders and conducted a pat down search for the gun or other weapons. Deputies located a loaded High Point .9mm concealed in Sanders left pocket. Sanders was immediately placed under arrest.

While being transported to the Madison County Jail, Sanders began taunting canine Axel by slamming his head against the canine cage divider and screaming at him. This caused canine Axel to become highly agitated. Upon arriving at the Madison County Jail, Sanders began threatening to cause physical harm to the deputies however he was restrained without further incident.
