Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday July 5, 2020 at 12:42 P.M., Deputy Ben Pike was dispatched to a residence located on N.E. Drew Way in reference to an armed robbery complaint.
Prior to arriving at the residence, Deputy Pike met with the victim at the intersection of US 90 and Drew Way. The victim reported that he went to his former residence on Drew Way to retrieve his belongings. After knocking on the door to the residence, Kenneth Preston Ray Harris of Live Oak, opened the door while pointing a “sawed off” shotgun at him. The victim further reported that Harris forced him into the residence and demanded that the victim empty his pockets while chambering a 410-slug round.
The victim stated that he placed all the money he had in his possession on a television stand in the living room before being allowed to leave. The victim provided a description of the denominations taken from him.
Deputy Pike along with other deputies responded to residence and contacted Harris who was standing outside the residence. Harris denied robbing the victim, but admitted to pointing a shotgun at victim because he believed the victim had a pocketknife. Deputies entered the residence and located a short barreled 410 shotgun chambered with an unspent slug round and recovered the currency in the denominations described by the victim from Harris’s wallet and the television stand.
Harris was placed under arrest without incident.
