Major David Harper Graduates from Commanders Academy

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart is proud to announce that Major David Harper has recently graduated from the Florida Sheriffs Association prestigious Commanders Academy. The Commanders Academy is an exceptionally informative and educational experience that is essential for the next generation of public safety leaders. The Commanders Academy provides a comprehensive curriculum and offers advanced programs on leadership skills, business and personal ethics, agency management and a host of other topics related to the law enforcement profession. Each block of instruction is followed by a panel discussion. The panels are comprised of current Florida Sheriffs. Sheriff Stewart has been chosen to participate in the panel discussions since the Commanders Academy’s inception.

The Commanders Academy is unique in that it is only offered to command level Deputy Sheriffs in the State of Florida. Candidates for the Commanders Academy must be recommended by the Sheriff of his or her respected agency to the Florida Sheriffs Association for final approval and selection. Major David Harper is a member of Class 5 and is considered alumni becoming one of only 150 Commanders throughout the State of Florida who has received this specialized training.
