Madison County Operations in Response to COVID-19

In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), County Departments are making operational changes as needed to ensure the health and safety of our citizens and our employees. Please keep in mind we are also making these changes in an effort to follow the Federal and State directives. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause. Please remember this is a temporary situation.

Administration Department:

The Madison County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution on March 18, 2020, to declare a Local State of Emergency.  This is in response to the Federal and State declarations and allows the County to request outside resources if needed. No cases of the virus have been reported in Madison County at this time. The Board also asked staff to make arrangements for the public to attend the next County Commission meeting virtually, through the GoToMeeting platform to keep room attendance below 10 people at any given time.  Staff is also assisting the Emergency Management Department as needed so please do not come to the Administrative office in person unless necessary. Please contact us by email at admin@madisoncountyfl.com or by calling (850) 973-3179.

Building Department:

The Building Department will be closed for face-to-face communications until further notice. The phones will be answered and permits will be processed as normal, but without personal interaction. A box will be placed just inside the door where permit applications can be dropped off for processing. At this time, we will not be handling any cash. Payment can be made by check or credit cards. We are asking that any questions or permit reviews be completed over the phone, so please keep a copy of the documents your submitted.  Emergency Management:

Emergency Management is currently at a level 2 activation as approved by the Board of County Commissioners. They have been working nonstop since March 9, 2002 with the Madison County Health Department and other state agencies to keep the citizens updated on COVID-19. They have also been work with long term care providers in the county and hospital to ensure we are taking all the steps we can to protect our older population. Please monitor their Facebook site and the Board of County Commissioner’s Facebook site for the most up to date information.
