Inmate Louis Walker Arrested for Assaulting an Officer at Okaloosa Correctional Institution

CRESTVIEW, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections’ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) arrested Inmate Louis Walker (G06131) at Okaloosa Correctional Institution. Inmate Walker has been charged with battery of a law enforcement officer.

Secretary Julie Jones said, “I commend the professionalism shown by our staff during this difficult incident and thank our Office of the Inspector General and law enforcement partners who ensured Inmate Walker was immediately arrested for his actions.”

Inmate Walker assaulted the officer on May 30 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Inmate Walker struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Following the arrest, Inmate Walker was transported to the Okaloosa County Jail for booking. The OIG acknowledges the cooperation and assistance provided by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office in the 1st Judicial Circuit.
