ORLANDO, Fla. – Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have arrested Valtasia Durden-McDavid, 47, of Port St. Lucie, on charges of official misconduct and petit theft.

Durden-McDavid is a former employee with Kids Connected by Design, a subcontractor for the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

In November 2018, agents received information from DCF’s Office of Inspector General that Durden-McDavid may have falsified documentation on home visits to families enrolled in a wellness program. Agents launched an investigation and found discrepancies regarding home visits that Durden claimed to have conducted and discrepancies among travel vouchers that were submitted for reimbursement. The investigation showed Durden-McDavid had not conducted home visits with four different participants even though she had documented the visits. Agents also learned she had submitted false travel vouchers.

Durden-McDavid was booked into the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office on a $8,250 bond. The Office of the State Attorney, 19th Circuit, will prosecute.
