Florida Correctional Officer Arrested

OCALA, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections’ (FDC) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) announced the arrest of Correctional Officer William Bright. Bright is charged with conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a detention facility.

Following the arrest, Bright was transported to the Marion County Jail. The OIG acknowledges the cooperation and assistance provided by members of the North Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative and would like to thank Director Corey Taylor of the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team (U.D.E.S.T.), the Marion County Sherriff’s Office, and the Ocala Police Department.
