Florida Correctional Officer Joseph Foster Passes Away


Officer Joseph Foster will be greatly missed by colleagues, friends and family.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) mourns the loss of Correctional Officer Joseph Foster who passed away on August 3, 2020. Correctional Officer Foster was assigned to Florida Women’s Reception Center in Ocala.

Officer Foster is the second FDC correctional officer reported by family to pass away following a positive COVID-19 test. More than 1,800 FDC employees and contractors have tested positive in recent months.

“We mourn the loss of another special colleague,” said Secretary Mark Inch, “Officer Foster was a courageous officer who worked each day fulfilling the values of the Florida Department of Corrections. We are keeping Officer Foster’s family, friends and fellow staff members in our prayers and will never forget his selfless service to the state of Florida.”

Officer Foster began his career as a correctional officer with FDC in 2009.
