FDC Food Service Employee (Megan Benton) and Civilian (Sandra Hicks) Arrested

SANDERSON, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections’ (FDC) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) announced the arrest of former food service employee Megan Benton and civilian Sandra Hicks. Benton is charged with one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband, three counts of introduction of contraband and one count of unlawful compensation. Hicks is charged with one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband.

Benton turned herself in to the Columbia County Jail. Following Hicks’ arrest she was transported to the Baker County Jail. The OIG acknowledges the cooperation and assistance provided by State Attorney William P. Cervone of the 8th Judicial Circuit of Florida, Baker County Sheriff Scotty Rhoden and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
