This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified time-frame. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
Jefferson Correctional Institution: On March 14, inmate Jaddier Sanchez (W18800) assaulted an officer at approximately 9:30 p.m. Inmate Sanchez struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Sanchez will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Lake Correctional Institution: On March 15, inmate Tony McCraw (T58609) assaulted an officer at approximately 5:57 p.m. Inmate McCraw grabbed the officer and attempted to pull them into a cell. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate McCraw will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Lake Correctional Institution: On March 15, inmate Chad Carpenter (620878) assaulted two officers at approximately 4:00 p.m. Inmate Carpenter punched an officer in the face and bit an additional officer on the hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries. Inmate Carpenter will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Santa Rosa Annex: On March 15, inmate Joseph Johnson (137079) assaulted an officer at approximately 5:13 p.m. Inmate Johnson slapped the officer on the arm and attempted to grab them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Johnson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Wakulla Annex: On March 16, inmate Michael Simpkins (D37582) assaulted an officer at approximately 9:55 p.m. Inmate Simpkins kicked the officer in the shin. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Simpkins will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Walton Correctional Institution: On March 18, inmate Clifford Wilson (133217) assaulted two officers at approximately 3:16 a.m. Inmate Wilson punched an officer in the chest and punched an additional officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Wilson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Apalachee Correctional Institution East: On March 18, inmate Diarick Edwards (C07472) assaulted two officers at approximately 1:22 p.m. Inmate Edwards punched an officer in the chest and punched an additional officer on the arm. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Edwards will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
