FDC Assault Advisories | January 1 – January 7, 2018
This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On January 2, inmate Josias Deshommes (C06489) assaulted multiple officers at approximately 9:34 a.m. Inmate Deshommes began causing a disruption. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate remained combative, striking multiple officers before being subdued. Inmate Deshommes will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Northwest Florida Reception Center: On January 2, inmate Benton Bell (570013) assaulted an officer at approximately 3:15 p.m. Inmate Bell threw a broomstick, which struck the officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Bell will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Marion Correctional Institution: On January 4, inmate Corey Chandler (U52468) assaulted two officers at approximately 1:25 p.m. Inmate Chandler punched an officer in the face and kicked another in the leg. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Chandler will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Desoto Annex: On January 4, inmate Shane Maxwell (N17689) assaulted an officer at approximately 3:00 p.m. Inmate Maxwell struck the officer while they were attempting to remove his restraints. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Maxwell will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Dade Correctional Institution: On January 5, inmate Vandarius Roundtree (X63740) assaulted an officer at approximately 9:27 a.m. Inmate Roundtree struck the officer in the face with his hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Roundtree will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Cross City Correctional Institution: On January 5, inmate Herbert Michel (W40565) assaulted an officer at approximately 11:37 a.m. Inmate Michel pushed the officer to the ground. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Michel will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Holmes Correctional Institution: On January 5, inmate Jimmie Williams (899777) assaulted an officer at approximately 7:15 p.m. Inmate Williams elbowed the officer in the chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Williams will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On January 6, inmate Leo Jefferson (G19538) assaulted multiple officers at approximately 10:29 a.m. Inmate Jefferson began causing a disruption. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate remained combative, striking multiple officers before being subdued. Inmate Jefferson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On January 6, inmate Justin Howard (I06910) assaulted an officer at approximately 10:05 p.m. Inmate Howard was fighting with another inmate when he pushed a responding officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Howard will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Lake Correctional Institution: On January 7, inmate David Creary (M75706) assaulted an officer at approximately 8:57 a.m. Inmate Creary struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Creary will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On January 7, inmate William Stapleton (P20055) assaulted an officer at approximately 1:45 p.m. Inmate Johnson punched the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Stapleton will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
