Taylor CI Correctional Officer Dennis Rogers arrested for malicious battery

PERRY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections’ (FDC) Office of Inspector General (OIG) announced the arrest of Correctional Officer Dennis Rogers. Rogers is charged with violations stemming from an incident which occurred on Monday, February 20 at Taylor Correctional Institution. Rogers was charged with malicious battery of an inmate.

Following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest, Rogers turned himself into the Taylor County Jail. The OIG acknowledges the cooperation and assistance provided by the 3rd Judicial Circuit of Florida and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

“The Florida Department of Corrections does not tolerate inmate abuse at any level, as it is in direct contradiction with the Department’s mission and values. The swift response and action by those involved in this case is a testament to our commitment to ensuring staff are held accountable when they undermine public trust, said Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Ricky Dixon. “We will continue to work cooperatively with the Inspector General as they investigate this incident. Public safety and the wellbeing of our staff, and those under our care is at the heart of our mission. Events like this should serve as a reminder that any criminal activity will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
