City of Madison to Cancer Patients: “SUCK IT!”

The City Commissioners of Madison, on February 13, voted to prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries from opening within the city limits.  (Their phone numbers are listed below.  Call them!!)

Notwithstanding the significant hurdles that a patient must jump through to gain approval for a medical marijuana card, and the fact that the dispensaries are heavily regulated and monitored by the State of Florida Department of Health, the City Commission, (apparently),  decided that they would prefer that sick people just take opioids for pain relief and deal with the consequences of addiction later.  (The pharmaceutical industry must have clapped with glee when they heard of this vote at the City Commission.)

The list of ailments/diseases that qualify for medical marijuana is quiet small and includes: Cancer, HIV/Aids, Hepatitis C, Epilepsy, and Parkinson’s Disease.  Not exactly a group of people who pose a threat to others.

Another vote, and an opportunity for public comments, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.

In the mean time, you may contact the City Commission members by phone.  Let’s all give them a call.  Certainly, they would just LOVE to hear from you.  Seriously, call them and give their phone numbers to everybody you know!!
