Kevin Cornelius Gardner, B/M, DOB: 12/03/1963, 5-11, 219 lbs.
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart Originally reported back on January 7, 2016, and again in April of 2016 that the Sheriff’s Office had received a warrant for the arrest of Kevin Cornelius Gardner for Sexual Battery by a person in Familial or Custodial Authority and Impregnation of a Minor. On the 3rd day of December 2015, Gardner was adjudicated guilty for said charges and sentenced to 10 years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by 15 years Sex Offender Probation.
After being adjudicated and sentenced to the Florida Department of Corrections on the 3rd day of December 2015, the Third Judicial Court in and for Madison County Florida granted a furlough for Gardner which allowed him not to be taken into immediate custody but rather voluntarily report to the Madison County Jail no later than 9:00 a.m. on January 5, 2016. Gardner failed to report and an amended warrant for Gardner was obtained to include the additional charge of absconding.
Garner’s previous incarcerations revealed addresses for him in the areas of Orange Park and St. Augustine Florida.
The US Marshall’s Office Fugitive Task Force adopted Garner as a fugitive and started an investigation into his whereabouts. After nearly 5 months of eluding authorities, on Wednesday the 11th day of May 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM Garner was located in Green Cove Springs Florida and taken into custody without incident by the US Marshalls Fugitive Task Force.
Sheriff Stewart commends the US Marshall’s Office Fugitive Task Force for their efforts in capturing this fugitive. Garner will remain in custody until being delivered to the Florida Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
