Things NOT to Do on I-10 in Madison County

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 12:43 a.m. Deputy Jared Dewey stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 in Madison County for a faulty equipment violation.

While discussing the violation with the driver (identified as Khiry Brendon Bryant) Deputy Dewey detected the odor of unburnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Deputy Dewey instructed Bryant to exit the vehicle. When questioned about the marijuana odor Bryant stated that there was marijuana in the vehicle earlier. Deputy Dewey explained that he was going to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle. Bryant admitted that the vehicle contained 2 marijuana cigarettes.

During the probable cause search, Deputy Dewey located the 2 marijuana cigarettes concealed under the center console. During further search Deputy Dewey located two cigarette packs concealed inside a toiletry bag. Both packs contained green marijuana. The toiletry bag also contained a digital scale along with several small plastic baggies commonly used to package illegal narcotics. Bryant was arrested without incident.
