TCSO: Arrest of Juvenile Interferes with Lunch Break

While attempting to go to lunch today, Inv. Jason Vinson observed a seventeen year old juvenile driving with no valid DL, and attaching a tag not assigned to the vehicle that he was driving, Upon making contact with the juvenile, Inv. Vinson observed additional indicators of criminal activity and requested DTF partner Inv. Kyle Johnson’s assistance.

DTF Inv. Johnson and K9 Bak, fresh out of a demo for the Florida Retired School Employees at the First United Methodist Church, arrived and K9 Bak was deployed. K9 Bak indicated a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the teenager was in possession of the following items:
a stolen and loaded handgun
ammunition
a digital set of scales with field test positive methamphetamine residue
marijuana
drug paraphernalia kit commonly known as a “rig” used to inject illegal drugs.

The contraband was seized and the juvenile was arrested and taken into the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
