Taylor & Franklin County Sheriffs Asks for Assistance to Help Victims of the Franklin County Wildfire

Donations to help victims of the Franklin County wildfire may be dropped off at the Perry Walmart parking lot beginning Tuesday morning, June 26.

Sheriff Padgett has organized a group of volunteers and equipment to receive and deliver these needed supplies. Non perishable food, personal care, and household items will be accepted.

The small town of Eastpoint, Florida in Franklin County has suffered a devastating loss. Over 30 homes, possibly as high as 60 as of last count, have lost everything they own. An estimated two hundred people are now displaced as a result of this tragedy, and many without insurance. The widespread fire was rapidly moving, allowing residents only moments to escape with their lives. The incident began around 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24th.
