News Release (January 10, 2018)
Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 5:39 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the S & J Deli located in Greenville in response to a report of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival deputies located a male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound. Deputies rendered aid and secured the scene for Madison County EMS to begin treating the victim.
Deputies were able to learn that the shooting took place at a residence located on N. W. Haffye Drive in Greenville and that the victim drove himself to the S & J Deli to seek help. The victim informed deputies that his step-son, Deshaun Mutch, was the person who shot him and was able to provide a description of the vehicle that Mutch fled the scene in.
A short time later a vehicle that matched the description was located in Madison and stopped by deputies who were assisted by the City of Madison Police Department. Deshaun Mutch was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and was placed under arrest without further incident. This case remains under investigation.
