News Release (December 4, 2018)
Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 6:40 p.m., Drug Task Force Investigators observed the driver of a blue Ford truck commit a traffic violation near the intersection of Petunia and Persimmon Drive. Investigators attempted to conduct a traffic stop however the driver (later identified as Gary Joseph Reed) slowed but did not stop.
Investigators observed Reed reaching down inside the truck before coming to a stop. Once Reed stopped, investigators instructed him to exit the truck. While taking enforcement action, they noticed a glass smoking pipe in his shirt pocket. During a pat down search, investigators discovered that Reed was in possession of a cigarette pack that contained suspected crystal methamphetamine and cocaine. Reed was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Madison County Jail.
