The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a likely scam attempt targeting local Madison County Businesses. Invoices are being received from a sender identifying themselves as “Sports Media” with an Austin, Texas mailing address.
The invoice will be titled Madison County High School 2019 Fall Sports Poster. This company IS NOT affiliated with Madison County Schools in any way. The small print on the bottom of the invoice states “Company is not affiliated with any school”. The phone number on the invoice (888-441-9584) is associated with numerous addresses in multiple states. Calls to this number will result in a message stating mailbox is full.
The Better Business Bureau has an alert associated with this business and rates them “F” based on multiple complaints received dating back to 2017.
If you receive an invoice from this “company” DO NOT SEND PAYMENT OR RESPOND IN ANY WAY. IF YOU HAVE SENT MONEY TO THIS COMPANY TAKE STEPS TO STOP PAYMENT IMMEDIATELY!
Unless you have actually responded to the invoice there is no need to report receiving it. Simply discard it. The accompanying photo was forwarded to MCSO by an alert citizen. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
