Last night, members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office took Kenisha Dupree 27, and Rodrick Owens, 28, into custody for multiple counts of armed robbery with a firearm.

For the last couple of months members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Tallahassee Police Department have been investigating a string of armed robberies in Leon County and Tallahassee committed by Owens. Tuesday night Leon County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a robbery at the Circle K at 5445 Capital Circle SW with the same suspect description. Yesterday morning, just after 8 a.m.

LCSO deputies responded to another robbery committed by the same suspect at the CVS, 5670 North Monroe. Detectives immediately responded to the area with uniform patrol deputies. After determining the suspect left the area, detectives and deputies canvassed the area in an attempt to locate video surveillance evidence.

A local business in the area of the CVS provided camera footage which showed a distinct vehicle circling the block several times. The vehicle is then seen leaving the scene within seconds of the suspect running out of the store. Detectives identified the car and discovered there were very few of these particular vehicles in our area. With assistance from another business partner detectives were able to develop a suspect. Detectives and patrol deputies worked together again to locate the suspect vehicle.

They were subsequently able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and take Owens into custody on unrelated charges. Owens and Dupree, the driver of the vehicle, were transported to the office to continue the investigation. Owens and Dupree were then connected to other robberies being investigated by LCSO and TPD.

As a result of the investigation LCSO detectives and TPD investigators located a black shotgun and a silver revolver believed to have been used in the robberies. They also located a cash drawer, cash, clothing and a mask linked to the crimes. They also located a Florida Lottery dispenser with numerous lottery tickets that were stolen in a burglary that occurred last month.

Owens and Dupree have been transported and booked into the Leon County Detention Facility on charges form LCSO and TPD related to thirteen different robberies throughout Leon County.
