TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Lottery announces that Michael Laine, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, claimed a $1 million top prize in the new $5 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC Scratch-Off game, at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $705,000.00.

Laine said he frequently comes to Florida for his job and has big plans for his winnings. “I’m going to finish paying off my house,” he said.

The $5 game, $1,000,000 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC, launched in January and offers more than $200.5 million in prizes, including 32 top prizes of $1 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-3.97.

Scratch-Offs are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, generating more than $871 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in FY 2017-18, and comprising approximately 69 percent of ticket sales.
