BOWLING GREEN, Fla. — The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) today announced 40 inmates at Hardee Correctional Institution received their Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s Extension Center (NOBTS). This is the first class to graduate from Hardee CI’s partnership with NOBTS.

Bureau Chief of Re-Entry Programs and Education Gwen Brock said, “We are pleased to recognize the first graduates from our partnership with New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. This program is one of many phenomenal programs our Department is proud to offer in the field, and we look forward to continue providing this degree opportunity to interested inmates.”

The partnership began in 2014, and classes are held at Hardee CI and taught by NOBTS staff. Graduates of the NOBTS Extension Center are utilized by FDC Chaplaincy Services and are afforded a variety of ministry opportunities and job assignments, serving as mentors and academic tutors for fellow inmates and peer facilitators for faith-based programs.
