FDC Assault Advisories | July 17 – July 23, 2018

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.

WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. – On July 17, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Gulf Correctional Institution.

Inmate Edwin Semprit (X69343) assaulted the officer at approximately 1:05 p.m. Inmate Semprit head-butted the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Semprit will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

JASPER, Fla. – On July 17, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Hamilton Annex.

Inmate Justin Ferguson (J44734) assaulted the officer at approximately 1:48 p.m. Inmate Ferguson kicked the officer in the leg. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Ferguson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

PERRY, Fla. – On July 17, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Taylor Correctional Institution.

Inmate Robert Hill (J44504) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:40 p.m. Inmate Hill head-butted the officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Hill will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

CENTURY, Fla. – On July 17, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Century Correctional Institution.

Inmate Joseph Mclaughlin (L84813) assaulted the officer at approximately 10:40 p.m. Inmate Mclaughlin bit the officer’s hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Mclaughlin will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

MILTON, Fla. – On July 18, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Manuel Fernandez (M53576) assaulted the officer at approximately 1:42 a.m. Inmate Fernandez kicked the officer in the groin. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Inmate Fernandez will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

BONIFAY, Fla. – On July 18, an inmate assaulted correctional officers at Holmes Correctional Institution.

Inmate Randy Robinson (W23983) assaulted the officers at approximately 9:55 a.m. Inmate Robinson bit one officer in the chest, another in the shoulder and struck two other officers in the chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries. Inmate Robinson will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

MILTON, Fla. – On July 19, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Inmate Chez Blackwell (R42644) assaulted the officer at approximately 9:54 p.m. Inmate Blackwell struck the officer’s hand with a meal tray. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Blackwell will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

RAIFORD, Fla. – On July 20, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Florida State Prison.

Inmate Keion Chambers (187933) assaulted the officer at approximately 8:41 p.m. Inmate Chambers bit the officer’s leg. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Chambers will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

BOWLING GREEN, Fla. – On July 23, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Hardee Correctional Institution.

Inmate Deon Dean (M40682) assaulted the officer at approximately 9:50 a.m. Inmate Dean struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Dean will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
