FDC Assault Advisories | January 15 – January 21, 2018
This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty.
Walton Correctional Institution: On January 15, inmate James Wiley (K60199) assaulted an officer at approximately 4:28 p.m. Inmate Wiley struck an officer with a door. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Wiley will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Central Florida Reception Center East: On January 15, inmate Troy Clinton (H31960) assaulted an officer at approximately 11:55 p.m. Inmate Clinton kicked the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Clinton will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Union Correctional Institution: On January 16, inmate Clinton Mays (Y33851) assaulted an officer at approximately 8:55 a.m. Inmate Mays punched the officer in the abdomen. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Mays will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Taylor Annex: On January 16, inmate Jacques Brown (R26501) assaulted an officer at approximately 4:33 p.m. Inmate Brown elbowed the officer in the chest. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Brown will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Holmes Correctional Institution: On January 18, inmate Richard Sylvester (T26491) assaulted an officer at approximately 9:25 a.m. Inmate Sylvester struck the officer multiple times in the lower body. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Sylvester will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Santa Rosa Annex: On January 18, inmate Thomas Brooks (125055) assaulted three officers at approximately 9:15 a.m. Inmate Brooks grabbed an officer by the neck and kicked another officer in the groin. Additional staff responded appropriately. While being subdued, inmate Brooks struck a third officer in the arm. Inmate Brooks will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Hamilton Annex: On January 18, inmate Troy Ballard (V31581) assaulted an officer at approximately 10:30 p.m. Inmate Ballard struck the officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries. Inmate Ballard will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Martin Correctional Institution: On January 19, inmate Shanon Miles (186445) assaulted an officer at approximately 1:15 p.m. Inmate Miles shoved the officer to the ground. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Miles will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
Tomoka Correctional Institution: On January 20, inmate Nathaniel Smith (A52081) assaulted two officers at approximately 5:15 p.m. Inmate Smith punched an officer in the face. Staff responded appropriately. While being subdued, inmate Smith bit another officer on the hand. Medical staff examined the officers and noted injuries. Inmate Smith will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.
