TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) recognized Correctional Probation Supervisor Latoya Bailey for becoming the Florida Association of Community Corrections (FACC) Professional of the Year. This award is given out annually by the FACC to a community corrections staff member for extraordinary service.
Secretary Julie Jones said, “We are proud to announce Latoya Bailey as the Florida Association of Community Corrections Professional of the Year. Latoya is an outstanding member of our FDC team and an instrumental piece of our Biscayne Probation Office who exemplifies the ideals of our Department every day while serving her community.”
Bailey began her career with the Department as a Correctional Probation Officer in 2006. During her 12 years with FDC, Bailey promoted to Correctional Probation Senior Officer and Correctional Probation Specialist before taking on her current position of Correctional Probation Supervisor in June 2018. In her role as a supervisor, Bailey is responsible for training and monitoring officers to ensure their duties comply with FDC policy and procedures.
Bailey is an active member of her community. She was recognized as Broward County’s Outstanding Mentor of the Year 2016 – 2017 for her involvement with Mirror Lake Elementary School. She consistently participates in Miami-Dade’s Walking One Stop and spends time volunteering for Rebuild Broward Together.
