Following the search of an inmate’s cell today, Sgt Sondra Flowers discovered several items hidden within a deodorant package. Pills, suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, and a cigarette lighter were found.

Chandra Sullivan age 30 of Perry, was charged with possession of contraband by an inmate along with other drug possession charges. Sullivan is currently being held for a violation of probation, possession of meth. During the investigation, it was determined that these items entered the jail, concealed in a body cavity, during her arrest for V.O.P. on February 20.

Contraband is a source of significant concern in our jail because of the harm that it can cause. Whether it be drugs, weapons, or cell phones, these items pose health and security risks to both inmates and our corrections staff.

Sheriff Padgett has recently taken significant steps to reduce the opportunity for contraband to enter our facility. Together with our county office staff, we are conducting a search for surplus body scanning equipment to better screen inmates for hidden contraband.
