TALLAHASSEE, Fla.––Attorney General Pam Bondi has filed a court action against several companies allegedly involved in a student loan debt relief scam. According to the complaint, Integrity Group US Inc.; OnlineDoc Prep Inc.; Online Student Loan.Org Inc.; Students Loan Services.Org Inc.; and owner Thomas H. Rohan, induced consumers into paying upfront fees for student loan debt consolidation, loan forgiveness and other debt relief services never provided or not performed as promised.
The complaint alleges that, Integrity Group US Inc. and the other corporate defendants operated the unlawful enterprise primarily out of Boynton Beach, but offered debt management services to consumers throughout Florida and the United States. The complaint further alleges that Rohan specifically targeted public-sector workers, including teachers in Palm Beach County, and collected upfront fees of up to $999 from unsuspecting consumers.
The filing is the latest in a string of legal actions taken by Attorney General Bondi’s Office regarding student loan fraud. In October 2017, Attorney General Bondi announced Florida’s participation in the first coordinated federal-state civil enforcement crackdown involving student loan debt relief scams. At the time, the scams unlawfully took a combined total of more than $95 million in upfront fees from students nationwide. For more information on the 2017 cases, click here.
This most recent complaint alleges violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and the Attorney General is seeking permanent injunctive relief, full restitution, and the imposition of civil penalties and fees. To view the complaint, click here.
