From MCSO: As of Sunday, People Keep Getting Shot in Madison County. Victims Say Very Little.

News Release (January 16, 2018)

Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at approximately 4:14 a. m., deputies were dispatched to NE Elizabeth Street in response to a report of a gunshot victim. While responding, the deputies were informed that the victim was now located at the parking lot of Shelby’s Restaurant. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a male subject who was the victim of a gunshot wound to his leg. Madison County EMS was notified to respond to this location to assess the injury. The victim provided little cooperation but reported that he was driving his vehicle on Valdosta Hwy near Brickyard Pond Road at approximately 2:30 a. m., when another vehicle came up behind him with bright lights. The victim stated that he pulled over and the following vehicle drove up along beside him and the unknown occupants began shooting. Madison County EMS transported the victim to the Madison County Memorial Hospital.

At approximately 8:05 a. m., deputies received a call from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a male who had checked himself into the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital also suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. This victim also provided little cooperation but reported that he was a passenger in the car with the first victim at the time of the shooting and was also shot in the leg. Neither victim provided a description of the suspect vehicle. Deputies were able to locate where the shooting most likely took place and processed the scene. Both victims were treated for non-life threating injuries.
